I think the photos and videos of this production really speak for themselves: this production brought with it numerous elements I had no prior experience with: namely, fight choreography and puppetry.
This was one of our biggest productions after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, so, as one of several upperclassmen in the show, I was tasked with helping the underclassmen understand what SU production's looked like pre-COVID, as well as helping them learn the time and commitment necessary to create a quality production. Every day, the actors and puppeteers showed up 30 minutes to an hour early in order to warm-up and run fight choreography together, and while these moments were certainly important to the quality of our performance, I also believe that they made us a closer and more focused ensemble.
This video captures the penultimate scene of the show and the final battle: the Tiamat fight, in which Agnes defeats the dragon and, in doing so, overcomes the grief of losing her sister. Puppeteering took far more work than I could have ever expected, but this scene in particular taught me the importance of physical fitness and stamina as an actor.
